EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- It appeared Bradley's six-game win streak was in jeopardy of coming to an end after struggling to score in the first half, but the Braves shot 48 percent from the field and committed just three turnovers in the second half to rally from a six-point deficit and defeat Evansville (8-6 overall, 1-2 MVC) 65-54 Sunday afternoon at Lorene Ramsey Gym. Off to its best start in program history, Bradley picked up its seventh consecutive win and now has the most wins since the 2004-05 squad finished with a 15-13 record.

The Braves (13-2 overall, 4-0 MVC), who shot 29 percent from the field and committed 11 turnovers in the first half, took a 21-17 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half on a Skye Johnson (Olympia Fields, Ill./Marian Catholic) jumper. Bradley would go just over eight minutes without a field goal as Evansville went on an 11-1 run to take a 28-22 lead. Johnson's basket in the closing seconds of the opening half trimmed the Purple Aces' lead to 28-24 at the break.

Freshman guard Michelle Lund (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan) had her right wrist taped up in the first half and made just 1-for-5 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes of play. After removing the tape during half time, Lund helped key the Braves second-half run as BU won its fifth consecutive regular-season Missouri Valley Conference game.

The Braves trailed 33-27, when Lund hit her second three-pointer of the second half to spark a 14-5 BU run. Senior Kelly Krumwiede (Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West) had a layup near the 15-minute mark to cut the Evansville lead to 33-32. After an Evansville three-pointer, Lund made a pair of free throws and sophomore Raisa Taylor (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) followed with a driving layup to tie the score at 36-36. Krumwiede pulled down a defensive board after a Bradley stop and Lund knocked down her third three of the half to give Bradley is first lead since mid-way through the first half. Taylor had a steal and found Johnson under the basket for a layup and scored three points to cap the BU spurt as the Braves took a 44-38 lead with 9:30 to play.

With Bradley holding a 46-41 advantage, Lund helped put the game out of reach. She hit her fifth three-pointer of the evening and found Johnson on a back-door-cut for a runner in the lane to help the Braves extend the lead to 52-41 with 6:24 remaining after Johnson converted a three-point play. Evansville cut the Bradley lead to eight points with just under four minutes on the clock, but a pair of Krumwiede free throws pushed the lead back to double digits and the Braves ended up claiming its seventh consecutive win with a 65-54 victory.

The 4-0 start to Missouri Valley Conference play is the best in school history and BU's seven-game win streak is tied for the third longest in program history. Lund made 4-of-9 three-point attempts in the second half to finish with a game-high 17 points. Johnson added 12 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Taylor was also in double figures with 10 points. Sophomore Sonya Harris (Riverdale, Ill./Thornton) added 12 rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.

The Braves committed a season-low 14 turnovers, but were outrebounded for the first time this season as the Purple Aces posted a 47-35 edge in rebounding. Bradley limited Evansville to 29.6 percent shooting in the second half and 33.9 percent for the game.

Bradley returns to action Saturday when the Braves open a three-game MVC road swing with a 3:05 p.m. at Northern Iowa.
