PEORIA, Ill. -- For the second consecutive week and third time this season, freshman guard Michelle Lund (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan) has been named the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a pair of road wins to open conference play, announced by the league office Monday.

Lund is the first Bradley player to earn the award three times, earning the distinction for the third time in the last six weeks. She averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from beyond the arc in Bradley's road wins at Wichita State (69-49) and at Missouri State (68-59).

The sharp-shooting guard broke Bradley's freshman record for three-pointers in a season at Wichita State, knocking down 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and finished with a team-best 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting. She added three assists, one block and one steal in just 18 minutes of play as she helped Bradley end an 11-game losing streak in Missouri Valley Conference openers.

Lund capped the week with an 18-point performance at Missouri State. She made 6-of-11 three-pointers against the Lady Bears and added four rebounds and two assists to help the Braves to their first 2-0 start in the Valley since 1996-97. Lund and the Braves (11-2 overall, 2-0 MVC) have won five straight games and off to their best start since the 2001-02 season. With the pair of road wins, BU is now 4-2 on the road, marking the most road wins in a season since the 2004-05 campaign.

She is averaging 11.8 points per game on the year and her MVC-best 3.2 three-pointers per game ranks fifth nationally. Lund is shooting 46.6 percent from three-point range (41-for-88) and is also averaging 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Bradley returns to action Friday when the Braves play host to Southern Illinois at 7:05 p.m. at Illinois Central College's Lorene Ramsey Gym in East Peoria, Ill.
