COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) tied for seventh and the Bradley Women's Golf Team finished 12th of 18 teams at the Johnie Imes Invitational at the par-72 Club at Old Hawthorne Tuesday.
Neufeld was the Braves' top finisher, tying for seventh in the field of 99 competitors as she finished with a 10-over par 226 after shooting a final-round 74. Neufeld finished four shots behind individual medalist Kristina Merkle, who carded a 54-hole score 222.
Sophomore Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) fired a final-round 75 to finish two shots back of Neufeld in a tie for 12th at 228. Fellow sophomore Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) turned in a third-round 80 and ended the day tied for 67th at 244 (85-79-80).
Junior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) tied for 81st at 250 after a final round 84 and freshman Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) rounded out the scoring for the Braves with a third-round 88 to finish tied for 87th at 252.
Bradley finished 12th in the field which included nine teams ranked in the top 100 and 12 of the top 110 according to Golfweek. Wisconsin, which is ranked 49th, won the team title with a three-round score of 908. Tulsa led after each of the first two rounds but was edged by the Badgers and finished second with a score of 912. Tournament-host Missouri was third at 913, while Mississippi took fourth at 916. Illinois State followed in fifth place at 918 and was followed by Arkansas-Little Rock in sixth at 922.
Indiana closed out play in seventh at 315, while Princeton was eighth at 929. Missouri State was ninth in the final standings (934) and Kansas was 10th (935). Florida International was four shots ahead of the Braves in 11th at 938, while Bradley took 12th at 942, following a final round 313. Big 12 Conference foe Kansas State followed in 13th at 949 and Middle Tennessee State, which was ranked 90th according to Golfweek.com finished 14th at 958.
Southern Illinois was two shots back in 15th at 960 and Iowa followed in 16th at 961. UMKC finished 17th overall at 982 while Redlands Community College rounded out the field in 18th at 1019.
Bradley returns to action Oct. 12-13 at the MAC Preview in Indianapolis, Ind.
