INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Junior Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) followed up a 69 and 73 Monday with a final-round 73 to finish at two-over par 215 and in a tie for ninth at the Butler Fall Invitational at the par-71 Eagle Creek Golf Club Tuesday. Thompson helped the Bradley Men's Golf team to an 11th place finish in the field.
Thompson entered the day in a tie for seventh-place in the individual standings, and shot a final-round 73 to close out play tied for ninth at 215. Senior Zach Wanken (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) fired a third-round 81 to finish tied for 46th at 226. Sophomore Chris Niemiec (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles) finished one shot back of Wanken in a tie for 51st at 227 after shooting a 74 in the third round to help highlight play for the Braves.
Senior Zach Zobrist (Morton, Ill./Peoria Christian) shot a season-best 78 to finish tied for 75th at 241, while junior Nathan Perry (Normal, Ill./Normal West) rounded out the scoring for the Braves with a third-round 79 and finished 79th at 242.
Wisconsin-Green Bay won the team title with an eight-under par 844. Loyola-Chicago was second at five-under par 847, while tournament-host Butler rounded out the top three at 857. Indianapolis was fourth in the team standings at 866 and was followed by Eastern Illinois in fifth place at 868. Creighton was sixth at 875 with Wright State in eighth place at 883.
Missouri Valley Conference foe Evansville was eighth (888) and was followed by DePauw (9th - 894) and Cornerstone University (10th - 902). Bradley was 11th in the team standings at 904, while Valparaiso followed in 12th place at 919. IUPUI rounded out the field in 13th place with a team score of 927.
Bradley returns to action Oct. 11 & 12 at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill.
