PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior men's golfer Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after tying for ninth at the Butler Fall Invitational.
Thompson matched a career-best with a 69 in the opening round and followed it up with a pair of 73's to post the second top-10 finish of his career. He finished tied for ninth in the field with a three-round score of 215 and helped the Bradley Men's Golf team to an 11th-place finish at the par-71 Eagle Creek Golf Club. A chemistry major, Thompson owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Thompson and the Braves will close out the Fall schedule Oct. 11 & 12 at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill.
