DES MOINES, Iowa - Bradley senior forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) has been named first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference and he was one of five Braves to receive postseason recognition Thursday night during the league's annual banquet in advance of the State Farm MVC Tournament.
As The Valley's top scorer with 10 goals this season, Cutshaw was one of three forwards on the All-MVC first team and he was one of five Bradley players to be honored Thursday night. Senior midfielder Grant Campbell (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) and senior defender Travis English (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills H.S.) both earned second-team All-MVC distinction, while sophomore defender/midfielder Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) was an honorable mention pick. In addition, freshman center back Tapiwa Machingauta (Marondera, Zimbabwe/Prince Edward School) landed on the MVC All-Freshman Team.
Ending his career tied for second on Bradley's all-time goal-scoring list with 32 career tallies and fifth with 74 career points, Cutshaw becomes the 16th Brave to earn first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors. The 2006 MVC Freshman of the Year, Cutshaw was a second-team all-league choice in 2006 and 2008.
Like Machingauta, English played every minute of the 2009 season in the Bradley backline and he repeated as a second-team all-conference pick. Campbell becomes the fifth player in school history to earn all-conference recognition four times in his career. A first-team selection as a defender in 2008, Campbell also was a second-team pick in 2006 and an honorable mention selection in 2007, both as a midfielder.
A member of The Valley's All-Freshman team in 2008, Gaul's honorable mention award in 2009 is his first all-conference designation. He finished as Bradley's second-leading scorer with three goals and 10 points, while sharing team-high honors with four assists.
