EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Bradley senior forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) tied current Major League Soccer veteran Bryan Namoff as the school's second-leading all-time goal scorer, but it was not enough to give the Braves (6-11-1, 1-9-0 MVC) a season-ending winning streak as host Evansville rode a pair of first-half goals to a 2-1 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer victory Saturday night.
Tom Irvin opened the scoring in the 24th minute and Robbie Lynch headed home what proved to be the game-winning goal with just seven seconds left before halftime to give the Purple Aces momentum heading into next week's State Farm MVC Tournament at Drake.
Cutshaw scored his 10th goal of the year in the 84th minute, becoming the first Brave to reach double-digits since Preston Good in 2003 and equaling Namoff for second place in school history with 32 career goals. Freshman Chris Minor and senior Graham Stockdale, who began his college playing career at Evansville, assisted Cutshaw's goal.
Although Bradley managed 14 shots in the game, Cutshaw's tally was one of just two shots the Braves managed to put on target. Evansville keeper Phil Boerger stopped Christian Meza's shot on goal for his only save of the night. Bradley sophomore Kyle Orne equaled his career high with six saves between the pipes for the Braves.
