FORT WAYNE, Ind.

Bradley junior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) and freshman Veronika Wojakowska (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer H.S.) each recorded their second singles victory of the day, but IPFW won the doubles point and claimed four singles victories to end Bradley's season-opening two-match win streak with a 5-2 victory over the Braves, Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Regenold moved to 3-0 on the spring after a 6-2, 7-5 win over Sachi Janek at No. 3 singles. Wojakowska also remained unbeaten (2-0) on the spring season after turning aside Ingrid Ballus, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles position.
Despite Bradley's solid play near the top of the lineup, the hosts recovered to win the remaining singles matches. Amy Recht handed BU sophomore Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) a 6-2, 6-4 defeat at the top singles position, while Yuka Kobayashi stopped Bradley junior Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) at No. 4, 6-3, 6-3. Katie Brien didn't drop a game in the opening set against Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) and later held on for a 6-0, 7-6 win at No. 5. Alexandra Forsyth notched the fourth IPFW singles win at No. 6, defeating BU senior Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
At the top doubles spot, Regenold and Miller maintained their spotless spring record (3-0) with an 8-7 win over Recht and Janek. The Mastodons bounced back to win the remaining two doubles matches to gain an early lead in the match. Ballus and Kobayashi netted an 8-6 win over Buterbaugh and Donohue at No. 2, while Brien and Forsyth cruised to an 8-1 triumph over Krubeck and senior Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) at No. 3.
After Saturday's split, the Braves will remain in the state of Indiana for a 2 p.m. match Sunday at Ball State, ending a three-match weekend in the Hoosier State.
