SOUTH BEND, Ind.
? For the third time this indoor season, Bradley junior Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake H.S.) set a new Bradley indoor track & field record, finishing third in 1,000 meter run at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Friday night.
Nowak's time of 2:52.51 broke her previous record of 2:53.11 set earlier this indoor season at Northern Iowa. Friday, Nowak finished a shade over two seconds behind individual champion Leah Elenbaas of Michigan State (2:50.32). In addition to Nowak's initial record-breaking performance in the 1,000 meter run at Northern Iowa last month, Nowak set a new BU indoor mark in the mile run at Iowa State on Jan. 24. Her time of 4:50.88 broke Mary Ellen Hill's record set in 1999.
Nowak will return to competition during the second and final day of the Meyo Invitational on Saturday in South Bend. Nowak will participate in the 800 meter run, slated to begin at 1:05 p.m.
