Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) turned in an 11th place finish in the mile run, leading the Bradley track & field team at the second and final day of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Sunday.
Goldkamp turned in a time of 5:08.17 to set a personal indoor season-best in the mile and lead a group of four Bradley runners in the event. Junior Marlana Haefelin (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich H.S.) finished the race in 5:13.64, also a personal indoor season-best, to place 16th. Sophomore Leann Murphy (Rochester, Ill./Rochester H.S.) recorded a time of 5:16.08 for 18th place, while junior Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) finished 20th in a time of 5:25.34 to round out the BU group.
Three Bradley runners competed in the final of the 3,000 meter run, led by junior Amanda Switzer (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem H.S.) in 27th place with a time of 10:48.10 to top her previous indoor season-best by more than two full seconds. Junior Tracy Lotter (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago H.S.) logged a 30th place finish in 10:55.89, followed closely by junior Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand H.S.) in 32nd place with a final time of 11:07.36.
In the high jump, freshman Kourtnie Janson (Cambridge, Ill./Cambridge H.S.) tied for 12th when she equalled her personal season-best jump of five feet, one inch. Senior Trish Martens (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central H.S.) finished 13th in the triple jump with a jump of 34 feet, one inch.
The Braves are scheduled to compete in the Indoor NCAA Qualifier hosted by Iowa State March 7 in Ames, Iowa, before beginning outdoor competition at the Tulsa Invitational on Saturday, March 21.
