? Bradley sophomore Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) recorded runner-up finishes in two different events on Saturday, leading the Bradley women's track & field team at the Tulsa Invitational. The one-day event was the first outdoor competition for the Braves this spring.
Goldkamp led a trio of Braves in the top-10 of the 1,500 meter run, finishing second in the race with a time of 4:46.44. Race champion Melanie Cleland of host Tulsa finished less than a second faster than Goldkamp with a time of 4:45.46. BU junior Marlana Haefelin (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich H.S.) was fourth in the race with a final time of 4:51.51, followed by sophomore Leann Murphy (Rochester, Ill./Rochester H.S.) in a time of 4:57.08 for seventh place in the event.
In the 800 meter run, Goldkamp again turned in a second place finish, her second of the day. Tayler Rigsby of Tulsa won the race, followed by Goldkamp's runner-up time of 2:20.79. Junior Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand H.S.) turned in a top-five performance in the 800, finishing fifth in a time of 2:28.56.
In other distance events, Brubaker was the lone Bradley participant in the 2,000 meter steeplechase and turned in a fourth place finish in 7:57.81. Sophomore Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) was the top BU performer in the 3,000 meter run as her time of 10:58.17 was good enough for sixth place.
Freshman Tatierra Bivens (Chicago, Ill./Marist H.S.) was 15th for the fastest BU finish in the 200 meter dash with a final time of 27.91 seconds, while junior Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton H.S.) netted an eighth place finish in the 100 meter dash at 13.21 seconds to lead the Braves.
Sepich provided the best result in a field event for the Braves with a sixth place finish in the javelin throw with a throw of 114 feet, 11 inches. Freshman Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego H.S.) recorded a ninth place finish in the high jump with a leap of five feet, three inches, four inches better than her previous career-best set during the indoor season.
Bradley will return to outdoor competition on Saturday, March 28 at the SIU Spring Classic hosted by Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Ill.
