PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Miriam Wegmann (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday, after helping the Bradley softball team to a 3-4 record last week.
Wegmann, who entered the week with a .269 batting averaging, hit .444 (8-for-18) for the week with four doubles, five runs and two RBI. She boasted a .667 slugging percentage and drew five base on balls, including two intentional walks, without striking out to post a .565 on base percentage. In the weekend series against Wichita State, Wegmann hit .625 (5-for-8) with four doubles, four runs and one RBI. An early childhood education major, Wegmann owns a 3.24 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Wegmann and the Braves return to action Thursday when they play host to Loyola-Chicago at 4 p.m. at Laura Bradley Park.
