LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bradley managed just three hits and a total of five base runners off Michigan All-American hurler Nikki Nemitz as the Braves fell to the eighth-ranked Wolverines 3-0 Saturday afternoon during the second day of play at the University of Louisville Tournament. The loss evened Bradley's record at 7-7 on the season.

Michigan (14-6 overall) got on the board early, when Angela Findlay ripped a one-out homer to right field in the top of the first inning to give the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead.

A leadoff walk in the top of the third inning proved to be costly for the Braves. Bree Evans opened the inning with a base on balls and stole second. Amanda Chidester drove in Evans from second with a single to left. Nemitz helped her own cause with a two-out single to center, which scored Chidester from second to put Michigan ahead 3-0.

The Braves would have their best scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) had a one-out single and junior Jacqueline Vitale (Indian Head Park, Ill./Lyons Township) followed with a single to put runners at first and third with one out. Nemitz stuck out the next two batters she faced to keep Bradley off the scoreboard.

Nemitz retired the Braves in order in the fifth and sixth innings, before walking Vitale to lead off the bottom of the seventh. She settled down and got the next three batters out to pick up the complete-game shutout. Nemitz kept the Braves hitters off balance most of the contest, striking out 11, while walking one as she improved to 9-3 on the year.

Sophomore pitcher Katie Dennis (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) suffered the loss for Bradley, falling to 3-3 on the season. Senior pitcher Ashley Birdsong (Otis, Ore./Otis) tossed the final three and two-third innings of the contest, scattering three hits and striking out seven while walking none.

Bradley closes out play at the University of Louisville Tournament Sunday with a 9 a.m. (CDT) contest against Ohio.
