MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Despite winning the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match and eighth time in nine matches overall, the Bradley women's tennis team dropped five of six singles matches in a 5-2 dual loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee late Saturday night at the Paley Tennis Center in Milwaukee.

Sophomore Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) and junior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) moved to 9-0 on the spring from the top doubles spot with an 8-3 win over Kari Kastenholz and Kelly Drvaric. The BU senior pairing of Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) won for the second time this weekend and improved to 7-1 on the spring with an 8-6 win at No. 3 over Megan Gow and Jenna Felsher. The two doubles wins secured the early lead in the dual for the Braves.

Sammi Schoen and Ashley Schoneman earned the lone Panther doubles victory from the No. 2 spot, downing the BU junior duo of Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.), 8-3. The match was the first competition for Donohue since a Feb. 15 match at Ball State. The Braves finished the weekend with a 4-2 combined doubles record and are now 21-6 overall this spring.

Four of the six singles matches went three sets, including the lone Bradley victory at No. 2. One day after dropping her first match of the spring, BU freshman Veronika Wojakowska (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer H.S.) defeated Kastenholz 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 to improve to 7-1 on the spring.

The Panthers got a victory from Drvaric at the top singles spot, a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over Miller. Schoen handed Regenold a loss at No. 3, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, while Schoneman dropped the first set in her match against Buterbaugh at No. 4 before recovering to post a 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 win. Gow needed only two sets in her 6-3, 6-0 victory over Krubeck, while Felsher provided the fifth and final Panther singles win at No. 6 over Braun, 6-2, 6-3.

The defeat drops Bradley to 6-3 on the year. The Braves return to action with the first of three matches in three days in Las Vegas, Nev. on Monday, March 16 against Cal-State Bakersfield at 10 a.m.
