PEORIA, Ill.
? The Bradley men's cross country team made an addition to its roster on Thursday when Jonathan Richards of Streator Township High School signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Bradley University, head coach David Beauchem announced.
Richards comes to Bradley after back-to-back finishes in the Top-15 at the Illinois High School Association 2A Cross Country Championships. He turned in a ninth place finish in 2008 after a 15th place showing as a junior in 2007.
"We're very excited to have him," Beauchem said. "We feel he's a great fit for our program and a great fit for Bradley University."
Richards owns the Streator Township High School record in the 3200 meter run, an event he qualified for at the IHSA State finals last spring. He has also received All-Academic honors from the North Central Illinois Conference Reagan Division.
The Braves return seven runners from its 2008 squad for next fall, including the top three performers from the 2008 State Missouri Valley Conference Championships last November.
