PEORIA, Ill. -- For the third year in a row, the Bradley University Men's Golf and Women's Tennis teams have received Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA in honor of their Academic Progress Rate scores. The NCAA on Wednesday released its list of 767 teams, representing 11.9 percent of all NCAA Division I athletic teams, that have posted an APR score between 976 and 1000.
“These students continue Bradley University's long and rich tradition of academic and athletic excellence,” said Bradley University President Joanne K. Glasser. “These awards by the NCAA are recognition that our student-athletes excel in the classroom and on the field of play. We are proud of their ability to manage the academic demands of Division I athletes.”
“We remain extremely proud, not only of these two programs, but of the continued overall successes of all our teams,” said Bradley Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh. “These significant combined results remain a by-product of the diligent efforts of the fine young men and women in our program, as well as the daily contributions by our coaches, academic advising units and Bradley University's quality faculty. Regardless of the potential for professional athletic opportunities, graduation remains our ultimate goal, and we derive substantial satisfaction in knowing that our student-athletes are producing so well in the classroom.”
The Bradley Men's Golf team was one of four Missouri Valley Conference men's teams in all sports to receive the NCAA Public Recognition Award, while the Bradley Women's Tennis team was one of 12 Valley women's programs recognized. By sport, Bradley had one of 32 men's golf teams and one of 58 women's tennis teams recognized from around the country.
