INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
? Running in her first 3,000 meter race this season, Bradley junior Marlana Haefelin (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich H.S.) turned in a third place finish to pace the women's track & field team at the Stan Lyons Open hosted by Butler Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.
Haefelin clocked in with a time of 10:29.30 to place third in the race. She was joined in the top ten of the event by classmates Rachel Brubaker (Davis, Ill./Durand H.S.) and Tracy Lotter (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago H.S.), as Brubaker finished sixth in 10:59.53 and Lotter was seventh in 11:00.73.
In the 800 meter run, BU sophomore Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) recorded a fifth place finish with a time of 2:16.73, missing a personal season-best in the event by less than a second. Sophomore Leann Murphy (Rochester, Ill./Rochester H.S.) placed 12th in the race with a time of 2:21.54. Goldkamp also turned in Bradley's top finish in a sprint event, placing 18th in the 200 meter dash with a personal season-best time of 26.49 seconds.
The Braves competed in the 4x400 meter relay for the first time this season, as the BU team of Goldkamp, Murphy, junior Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) and freshman Michelle Hartman (Savanna, Ill./Prince of Peace H.S.) finished ninth with a time of 4:14.09.
In the high jump, freshman Kourtnie Janson (Cambridge, Ill./Cambridge H.S.) tied for 10th in the high jump with a successful jump of five feet, one inch, while junior Erika Sepich (Canton, Ill./Canton H.S.) was 10th in the javelin throw with a throw of 116 feet, five inches.
