Bradley University Soccer 6/8/2009 2:30:00 PM

Former Bradley All-American Bryan Namoff helped D.C. United to a 2-0 victory versus the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer action Saturday night at RFK Stadium.  Namoff once again played the game's entire 90 minutes from his right back position and he remains the only United field player to remain on the field for all 1,170 minutes through the Black and Red's first 13 matches.

With Saturday's shutout victory, United retained the Atlantic Cup trophy for the seventh time in the eight years of its existence, signifying a series win between I-95 rivals D.C. and New York.  Owning a 4-2-7 record, United stands alone in second place in the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 19 points, two behind first-place Chicago.

On the amateur circuit, an old nemesis burned current Braves Chris Cutshaw and Grant Campbell in a Premier Development League match Wednesday night.  Western Michigan University forward Tom Oatley, who scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Bradley in 2007, scored both goals for the Kalamazoo Outrage in a 2-1 win aganist the Chicago Fire Premier Wednesday night at the Toyota Park practice facility.  All of the game's scoring occurred in the first half before Cutshaw came on to start the second half.  After remaining on the bench the entire game Wednesday, Campbell earned his first start for the Fire Premier Saturday and played all 90 minutes in a 1-1 tie at the Cleveland Internationals.  Cutshaw once again was a second-half substitute for Chicago.

Bradley's active career scoring leader heading into his senior season, Cutshaw continues to share Chicago's team lead with two goals and four points through the season's first seven games.  He is one of three field players to appear in all seven games for the Fire Premier, who have fallen three points behind Kalamazoo into second place in the PDL Great Lakes Division standings.

The Fire Premier will return to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. by hosting the Milwaukee Bavarians in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at the Toyota Park practice facility in Bridgeview, Ill.  Chicago will resume its PDL schedule with a pair of weekend road games north of the border:  Saturday at Forest City London (located in London, Ontario) and Sunday at Toronto.

Also in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the USL First Division Carolina RailHawks will host the USL Second Division Richmond Kickers Tuesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.  Former Bradley stars Luke Kreamalmeyer and Gavin Glinton share Carolina's team lead with two goals apiece this season.  Off since May 29, Carolina (7-2-1) slipped into second place in the USL First Division standings with 22 points, just one behind the first-place Charleston Battery (6-0-5).

The RailHawks will make up for the off week by playing a pair of league games this week:  Thursday at home versus Portland and Sunday at Minnesota.
