PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley women's basketball head coach Paula Buscher and the Braves will be hosting a Pink Zone Reception Monday, Feb. 15 at the Lariat Steakhouse from 5-7 p.m. in conjunction with the team's annual WBCA Pink Zone Game Sunday, Feb. 21 against Drake. Tickets for the reception are $15 and available through the Braves Club Office at (309) 677-2667 with proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
In addition to Buscher, speakers at this year's Pink Zone Reception include Susan G. Komen Affiliate President Philip Lockwood, 2010 Race for the Cure Co-Chair Eric Brinker and 2010 Race for the Cure Honorary Chair and Bradley University President Joanne Glasser.
Special edition Pink Zone t-shirts will be on sale at the reception, co-hosted by the Braves Club and Methodist Medical Center.
The reception is being held as lead up to Bradley's annual Pink Zone game, which is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21 against Drake. The Braves will wear special pink uniforms for the 2:05 p.m. game at Lorene Ramsey Gym against the Bulldogs. Breast cancer survivors will receive free admission and fans are asked to wear pink to the game. The first 200 children 12 and under will receive a free commemorative basketball.
The Bradley women's basketball team has helped raise nearly $45,000 over the past six seasons through it's annual event. Coach Buscher will also be extending a Coach's Challenge, pledging $25 for every Bradley three-point basket made against the Bulldogs and invites others to take part in her challenge.
The Braves have been more than up to the challenge, hitting 43-of-99 (43.4 percent) from beyond the arc during the previous six events. Anyone interested in participating in the challenge can fill out a pledge card at the game or should contact Mary Lou Janssen at (309) 677-3617 to make a pledge (either per three-pointer or for a designated amount).
