INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Bradley women's tennis team battled Butler for nearly four hours Friday night, but came up short in all nine matches as the Bulldogs swept the Braves 7-0 at the Butler Tennis Bubble.
In No. 2 singles, senior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) suffered her first loss of the season Friday with a 6-4, 7-5 setback to Natali Jaimes. Bradley No. 5 singles player, freshman Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School), also dropped her first match of the season, falling to Brittany Farmer in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.
Seniors Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) both fell to 1-2 this season with losses in No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Molly Casperson defeated Donohue 6-2, 6-1 and Becky Jenkins beat Buterbaugh 6-3, 6-4. Junior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) dropped her No. 1 singles match to Gabriella Bobrowski 7-6 (2), 6-3, while freshman Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) lost to Cam Thompson 6-0, 6-0.
Butler picked up the doubles point with victories in all three matches Friday. Casperson/Jenkins edged Miller/Regenold 8-6, Bobrowski/Farmer beat Donohue/Buterbaugh 8-2 and Jaimes/Thompson held Scott/Graf scoreless, 8-0.
The Braves will continue their two-match road swing Saturday with a 6 p.m. contest at IUPUI.
