PEORIA, Ill. - Senior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio, Princeton H.S.) capped a perfect 6-for-6 weekend with two wins Sunday as Bradley edged SIU Edwardsville 4-3 at the Clubs at River City North. Regenold defeated Laura Horning 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and teamed with junior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) at No. 1 doubles to beat Maggie Boeckman/Amanda Miller 8-1. With her doubles victory Sunday, Regenold is now tied with Elise Montrose for second place on Bradley's all-time doubles wins list with 53.
The Braves earned the crucial doubles point with a tie-break win at the No. 2 spot as senior Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) and freshman Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) rallied to beat Horning/Kelsey Laird 9-8 (3-0). Bradley's only doubles loss came by default at the No. 3 spot.
At No. 1 singles, Miller won her second straight match with a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Boeckman. Bradley's fourth point came at the No. 3 spot, as Buterbaugh defeated Miller in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. In other singles action, Scott dropped her No. 4 match to Laird 6-1, 6-2, while freshman Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) fell to Ali Wulfers at the No. 5 spot 6-0, 6-1. SIU Edwardsville took the No. 6 singles match by default.
Bradley (4-5) will return to action Friday, March 6 with a 1 p.m. match against Northern Illinois.
