VALPARAISO, Ind. - After dropping their season-opener a Wisconsin Green-Bay Saturday, the Bradley women's tennis team won six-of-nine matches en route to a 5-2 decision over Valparaiso at Matchpoint Tennis Club Sunday afternoon.
The Braves opened Sunday's match by taking two-of-three in doubles play. Bradley's No. 1 tandem of junior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) and senior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) earned their first victory of the season, cruising to an 8-2 win over Christine Antrobus/Abby Wright. Seniors Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) moved to 2-0 in No. 2 doubles play with an 8-2 decision against Brittany O'Reilly/Jackie O'Reilly.
Regenold picked up her second No. 2 singles victory of the season by defeating Brittany O'Reilly in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, while Donohue earned the win in the three slot with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Katie Bilyeu. In No. 4 singles, Buterbaugh handled Stephanie York 6-2, 6-2. Bradley's fourth singles win came in the five slot, as freshman Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) moved to 2-0 by beating Jackie O'Reilly 6-4, 6-3.
The Braves (1-1) will return to action Friday, Feb. 12 at Butler at 3 p.m.
