St. Mary?s Tops Braves 1-0 At Troy Cox Classic

Third-Ranked Missouri Tops Bradley 9-1

Box Score COLUMBIA, Mo. - Bradley collected three hits off Missouri pitching and the third-ranked Tigers belted three home runs as the Braves fell 9-1 to the tournament hosts to conclude play at the Children's Hospital Invitational Sunday afternoon. 

Missouri (16-2 overall) scored in each of the first three innings and Bradley (9-10 overall) did not score until the top of the fifth as the Tigers cruised to the 9-1 win.  Missouri took an early 1-0 lead, pushing one run across in the bottom of the first inning.  Rhea Taylor had a leadoff single and stole second.  Jenna Marston drew a walk and Taylor scored when Bradley committed an error on a double steal.

The Tigers struck for five runs in the bottom of the second inning.  Nicole Hudson led things off with a single and the next two batters were hit by pitches to load the bases.  Missouri got its first run on a sacrifice fly by Abby Vock and Jenna Marston belted a two-out, three-run homer to left field to push the lead to 5-0.  Catherine Lee drew a walk and Ashley Fleming had a single before Michaele Vock capped the inning with an RBI single to center. 

Hudson led off the bottom of the third inning with a solo homer and Missouri had a runner on second with two outs when Taylor hit an inside the park home run to give Missouri a 9-0 advantage.

The Braves struck for a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Tigers lead to 9-1.  Senior Megan O'Malley (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) recorded her first career hit with a two-out pinch-hit double down the left field line and came around to score Bradley's only run of the contest on a Missouri error.

Senior Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) took the loss in the circle for the Braves, giving up eight hits and nine runs (eight earned) in two and two-third innings.  Clack fell to 6-2 on the season with the loss.  Kristin Nottelmann gave up two hits in four innings for Missouri as she improved to 4-1.

Bradley returns to action Tuesday when the Braves play a single game at SIU Edwardsville at 3 p.m.
