PEORIA, Ill. - The final game of the weekend Missouri Valley Conference softball series between Bradley and Evansville, scheduled for noon today at Laura Bradley Park, has been cancelled due to the inclement weather that swept into central Illinois overnight.
In anticipation of the deteriorating weather, the teams started the series a day early and split a doubleheader Friday at Bradley Park, invoking the league's "mercy" rule in each game. In the opener, Evansville (6-12, 1-3 MVC) scored nine runs in the third inning on the way to an 11-0 victory, only to see Bradley (10-12, 1-1 MVC) storm back for an 8-0 win in the nightcap. Both games were stopped after five innings.
