CARBONDALE, Ill. - Sophomore Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) shot an opening round 80 and is tied for 14th in the field at the Saluki Invitational, while the Bradley women's golf team finished the day in eighth place after 18 holes at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
Amundrud paced the Braves with her first round 80 and enters Monday's final round of play nine shots behind individual leader Olivia Lansing of Drake in 14th place. Lansing holds a four-shot lead on the field after Sunday's action after carding a one-under par 71.
Junior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) and sophomore Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) both shot 83 Sunday to finish the day tied for 33rd. Freshman Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) is five shots behind Amundrud in a tie or 45th place after shooting an 85 Sunday to round out the team scoring. Junior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) is seven shots back at 87 and tied for 56th, while sophomore Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) closed out the opening day tied for 60th after shooting an 88.
Drake overcame wet and windy conditions to shoot 303 Sunday and holds a 12-shot edge on the field. Murray State and Indiana State are tied for second place at 315 and tournament-host Southern Illinois follows in fourth place at 316. Western Illinois sits in fifth place (322) and is followed by Ball State in sixth place at 323.
Eastern Kentucky is seventh overall (325) and Bradley follows in eighth at 331. Missouri Valley Conference foe Creighton is ninth in the team standings (335), while Austin Peay rounds out the top 10 at 340. SIU Edwardsville finished the day tied with Belmont for 11th at 345, with Eastern Illinois three shots back in 13th place at 348. Rend Lake and Evansville complete the field tied for 14th at 357.
Bradley closes out action at the Saluki Invitational Monday with one round of play beginning at 8 a.m.
