MACOMB, Ill. -- Senior Zach Wanken (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) shot a third-round 77 to help the Bradley men's golf team move into eighth in the final team standings at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational at the par-72 Harry Mussatto Golf Course Tuesday.
Junior Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) was the Braves top finisher, tying for 20th place at 230 (76-73-81) after shooting a final-round 81. Wanken was five shots behind Thompson in 32nd at 235 (84-74-77) following his third-round 77.
Senior Zach Zobrist (Morton, Ill./Peoria Christian) carded a 79 Tuesday to tie for 37th at 238 (84-75-79), while junior Nathan Perry (Normal, Ill./Normal West) closed out play with an 84 to tie for 51st at 243 (78-81-84). Freshman Corey Versman (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) tied for 54th at 245 (82-81-82) with a final round 82 to round out the scoring for Bradley.
Tournament-host Western Illinois shot a 296 Tuesday and finished at five-under par 859 for the 54-hole event. Wisconsin-Green Bay was 31 shots behind the Leathernecks in second at 890, while Eastern Illinois was third overall at 896. North Dakota State finished fourth (916) and SIU Edwardsville followed in fifth place at 918. St. Ambrose was one shot back of SIU Edwardsville in sixth (919) and Western Illinois-Gold was four shots behind the Cougars in seventh (922).
Bradley placed eighth in the field at 942 after shooting a final round 319. The Braves were four shots ahead of ninth-place St. France (946), while Truman State and Monmouth College tied for 10th at 955. IUPUI was 12th (990) and Chicago State completed the field in 13th (1074).
The Braves return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Branson Creek Invitational in Branson, Mo.
