PEORIA, Ill. - Senior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) earned wins at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles as Bradley topped Oakland 5-2 at the Clubs at River City South Saturday afternoon. With her doubles victory, Regenold surpassed Ashley Morris (2003-06) for first place on Bradley's all-time doubles wins list with 55 total victories.
Regenold teamed with junior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) for her record-breaking doubles win, as the pair earned an 8-2 decision over Karen Karoub/Gabrielle Gogas. Bradley's No. 2 tandem of seniors Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) and Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) secured the doubles point by beating Jackie Dinicu/Amanda Pettey 8-3. Freshmen Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) and Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) dropped their No. 3 match to Caitlin Young/Kristin Karoub 8-3.
At No. 1 singles, Miller won her fourth straight match by beating Ka. Karoub in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, while Regenold defeated Young at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-4. Buterbaugh battled Gogas to a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) victory at No. 3 singles and Scott edged Pettey 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot. Oakland's two points came at No. 4 and 6 singles as Dinicu defeated Donohue 2-0 (retire) and Kr. Karoub beat Graf 6-1, 6-1, respectively.
Bradley (5-6) will close out its eight-match home stand Sunday, March 7 with a 10 a.m. dual versus IPFW.
