RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Sophomore Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) shot the low round of the day for Bradley, carding a seven-over par 79 as the Bradley women's golf team finished 12th at the Rio Verde Invitational at the Rio Verde Country Club's par-71 Quail Run Golf Course Sunday. Ryan was the Braves top finisher in the field, tying for 19th place at 230.
The top 20 finish was the first of Ryan's career and she was the only Bradley golfer to shoot all three rounds in the 70's during tournament play. Sophomore Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) finished one shot behind Ryan at 231 in a tie for 21st following her final-round 81. Junior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) had a string of 16 consecutive rounds in the 70's snapped with a third-round score of 82. Neufeld tied for 43rd in the field at 236.
Freshman Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) finished 10 shots behind Neufeld in 79th place (246) after carding an 87 Sunday. Junior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) shot an 81 on the last day to finish four shots behind Wisniewski at 250 and tied for 84th.
Michigan won the team title with a three-round total of 881 and Big Ten Conference foe Minnesota was second in the team standings at 895. Eastern Michigan finished third at 904, while Arkansas-Little Rock followed in fourth place at 908. Kansas was fifth (917) and Ball State was sixth overall at 922, while Missouri State was four shots behind Ball State in seventh place (926).
Xavier closed out play in eighth (929) and tournament-host Western Michigan was ninth overall at 931. Cincinnati rounded out the top 10 at 933 and was followed by Northern Arizona (11th - 935) and Bradley (12th - 937), respectively. The Braves finished three shots ahead of 13th-place Toledo (940) and held a 20-shot edge on 14th-place Southern Illinois (957). Penn State claimed 15th overall (958) and was chased by Ohio (16th - 962). Akron finished play in 17th place (963) and Bowling Green rounded out the field in 18th (998).
Bradley returns to action March 15-17 at the Northern Migration Invitational in Florence, Ariz.
