Softball Home Opener Against #21 Illinois Postponed

PEORIA, Ill. -- Tuesday's home opener for the Bradley softball team against 21st-ranked Illinois has been postponed Bradley head coach Amy Hayes announced Monday.  The Braves were scheduled to face the Illini Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.  A make up date for the game has not been announced.

Bradley (9-6 overall) went 3-2 this weekend at the Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., picking up wins against Temple (2-1), Wagner (8-1) and Florida International (3-1).  The Braves are back in action this weekend in Columbia, Mo., as they return to the site of last year's NCAA Regional.  Bradley opens play at the Children's Hospital Invitational Friday against tournament-host Missouri at 3 p.m.  The Tigers are currently ranked as high as third in the country after advancing to the 2009 College World Series.

The Braves will also face San Diego State Friday at 7 p.m.  During Saturday's action, Bradley will play 21st-ranked Illinois (10 a.m.) and New Mexico at 4 p.m.  The Braves will play a second game against New Mexico Sunday at noon to conclude tournament play.
