PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outfielder/pitcher Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday and also earned Bradley Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors after helping the Bradley softball team to a 3-2 record at last week's Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.
Clack hit .500 (10-for-20) with two doubles, six runs and one RBI at the plate, while also posting a 3-0 record with a 0.67 ERA in three complete game victories in the circle. She scored or drove in seven of the Braves' 19 runs for the week. Clack opened the week with a 2-for-4 effort with a double, stolen base and run scored against Temple. She also took a no hitter into the seventh before surrendering a single to the Owls and went on to toss a one-hit complete game win.
Clack went 3-for-4 with a run against Chattanooga during Saturday's first game and followed it up with a 5-for-5 effort with three runs and an RBI in the win against Wagner to go a combined 8-for-9 at the plate during Saturday's action. She matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts and scattered four hits in a complete game win against Wagner and picked up her fifth consecutive victory of the year in a 3-1 win against Florida International. A graphics design major, Clack owns a 3.36 cumulative grade point average.
Now in its 11th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies. On a weekly basis, the Conference honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Clack and the Braves return to action Friday at the Children's Hospital Invitational in Columbia, Mo. Bradley opens tournament play against third-ranked Missouri at 3 p.m. Live stats for each game this weekend are available at
