PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley softball team will close out the regular-season with six of the final nine games at Laura Bradley Park beginning with this weekend's series against preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite Creighton. The Braves and Bluejays will open the three-game series with a noon doubleheader on Saturday in a rematch of last year's State Farm MVC Championship. The series concludes Sunday with a single game at noon.
Bradley (15-25 overall, 5-12 MVC) is coming off a 9-2 loss at Northern Iowa as the Braves battle for a spot in the upcoming State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship which will be held May 13-15 in Des Moines, Iowa. Currently ninth in the Valley standings, Bradley took two of three games from Creighton last season, including a 2-0 victory in the championship game of the Valley Tournament at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria.
Creighton (25-18 overall, 10-5 MVC) has won five consecutive games and nine of its last 10 overall after sweeping Drake in a midweek doubleheader in Des Moines, Wednesday. The Bluejays have won eight consecutive conference games after a 2-5 start to league play and have climbed into third place in the Valley standings.
Saturday's noon doubleheader will be a Red Out with the first 250 fans receiving a t-shirt. Sunday's series finale will be Camper Reunion Day with a post-game autograph session with the Braves.
Bradley will play its final road games on the slate next weekend when the Braves face Wichita State May 1 & 2 in a three-game set in Wichita, Kan.
