MADISON, Wis. - Junior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) shot a one-over par 73 in the opening round and is tied for 12th after day one at the Badger Invitational Sunday. Amundrud helped the Bradley women's golf team finish the day in eighth place at the par-72 University Ridge Golf Course.
The Braves matched their season-low shooting 310 in both rounds Sunday and enter Monday's final round in eighth-place (620), five shots behind UTEP and SMU who are both tied for sixth at 615.
Amundrud opened the day strong, shooting a 73 and capped the opening day of play with a 77. She heads into the third round tied for 12th at 150 and is three shots back of a tie for ninth place.
Junior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Kate Andrews) followed up a first-round 78 by matching her season-best score of 75 to finish the day tied for 19th at 153. Senior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) is two shots behind Neufeld (tied for 30th - 155) after scores of 79 and 76.
Junior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) matched her career-best with an opening round 80 and is tied for 47th at 162, while sophomore Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) is tied for 56th at 169 after turning in rounds of 84 and 85.
Tournament-host Wisconsin shot a school record 282 in the opening round and holds an eight-shot lead on the field with a 36-hole score of 582. Augusta State is second overall at 590 and Xavier is third in the standings at 594. Iowa is fourth after Sunday's play at 596, while Georgetown finished the day in fifth place at 612.
UTEP and SMU are three back of the Hoyas in a tie for sixth at 615, with Bradley following in eighth at 620. North Dakota State is eight shots behind the Braves in ninth (628). Missouri Valley Conference foe Drake enters the final round 10th at 633, with Bucknell rounding out the field in 11th at 637.
