MADISON, Wis. -- Senior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Kate Andrews) tied for the lowest third-round score in the field, matching a career-best with a two-under par 70 and junior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) tied her career-best with a one-under par 71 to help lead the Bradley women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Badger Invitational Monday. Amundrud posted her 10th career top 10 finish, tying for seventh; while Neufeld tied for 12th in the field at the par-72 University Ridge Golf Course.
The Braves entered Monday's final round in eighth-place, but the duo of Amundrud and Neufeld helped BU shoot a season-best 301 on the final day of play and climb into sixth in the final team standings. Bradley's round of 301 is the lowest score for the Braves since the final round of last September's Payne Stewart Memorial and is tied for the 10th lowest team round in school history. It also marked the first time in program history a pair of BU golfers shot under par in the same round.
Neufeld's two-under par 70 is her lowest round since carding a 70 her freshman year at the Brickyard Invitational on Sept. 10, 2007 and is tied for the fourth lowest round in school history. She finished the tournament tied for 12th at 223 (78-75-70).
Amundrud posted her second top-10 finish of the year, tying for seventh at 221 (73-77-71) after matching her career-low with a one-under par 71 Monday. She joined Bari Erais as the only players in program history with three career sub-72 rounds, carding the third 71 of her career. Erais holds the BU career record with seven rounds of 71 or better.
Senior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) and sophomore Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) turned in final round 80's. Deeken tied for 34th at 235, while Wisniewski tied for 57th (249) in the field. Junior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) rounded out play for the Braves with a third-round 81 to finish 50th overall at 243.
Tournament-host Wisconsin won the team title with a 54-hole total of 879 to edge second-place Augusta State (881). Iowa was third in the standings at 894 and was followed by fourth-place finisher Xavier (902). Bradley (921) finished one shot behind fifth-place SMU (920), while the Braves owned a one-shot lead on seventh-place Georgetown (922). UTEP was five shots back of BU in eighth (926), with North Dakota State placing ninth overall at 934. Bucknell rounded out the top 10 at 942 and Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake was 11th at 945.
The Braves return to action Oct. 4 & 5 at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
