PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore guard Katie Yohn (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a pair of home victories last week.
Yohn averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 3.5 steals, while shooting 61.9 percent from the field in wins against Southern Illinois (80-44) and Evansville (65-58). She opened the week with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting in Bradley's win against Southern Illinois, while also collecting two assists, one block and a career-best six steals in the win as she helped Bradley to its largest margin of victory since the 1994-95 season. Against Evansville, Yohn hit 7-of-11 shots, including 2-of-3 three-point attempts and scored a team-high 20 points. She hauled down a career-best eight rebounds and also had four assists, two blocks and a steal, while helping Bradley to back-to-back conference victories for the first time this season. A medical technology major, Yohn owns a 3.13 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Yohn and the Braves open a three-game Missouri Valley Conference road swing Saturday with a 3:05 p.m. game at league-leading Northern Iowa. The game against the Panthers will be broadcast in the Peoria area on 1290 AM WIRL.
