PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior forward Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after scoring a pair of goals last week.
Gaul scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute of last Monday's 1-0 non-conference victory against UMKC and netted the tying goal in the 70th minute of Saturday's 2-1, overtime win versus SIU Edwardsville in Bradley's Missouri Valley Conference home opener. The goals pushed Gaul's career total to 28 and moved him into a tie for fifth place on BU's all-time list with Hamid Mehreioskouei (1999-2002). A communications (advertising) major, Gaul owns a 3.21 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Gaul and the Braves return to action tonight, hosting third-ranked Creighton at 7 p.m. at Shea Stadium.
