KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Freshman Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Seymour) carded a one-over par 73 and sophomore Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) shot a season-best 74 to help the Bradley men's golf team turn in its second lowest round of the year Monday during second-round play at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.
The Braves followed up Sunday's opening round 305 with a second-round score of 302, but slipped into sixth in the team standings with a 36-hole total of 607. Bradley heads into Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Turtle Point Golf Club five shots behind fifth-place George Washington (602) and 11 shots behind fourth-place Jacksonville State (596).
Trolia turned in the best round of the day for the Braves with his one-over par 73, but fellow freshman Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) is the individual leader for BU at 149. Masrin is tied for 20th overall after a 77 Monday, while Trolia is two shots back in a tie for 30th at 151.
Sophomore Daniel Young (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) is tied for 39th overall at 154 after a second-round 81, while Gunther's season-best score of 74 helped him climb into a tie for 48th at 156. Sophomore Travis Kreiter (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) shot 78 Monday and is tied for 92nd (165) heading into the third and final round.
Campbell matched its first-round team score with a 292 in the second round and holds a two-shot lead on the field at 584. Kennesaw State is second at 586 with tournament-host Charleston Southern trailing in third at 589.
Minnesota is two shots back of Bradley in seventh (609) and the Braves are six shots better than Presbyterian (613). Wisconsin and Butler are tied for ninth (614) to round out the top 10 in the 21-team field.
Bradley closes out play at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Tuesday with one round of play beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CDT). Live scoring is available at golfstat.com
