PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's basketball player Katie Yohn (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after scoring a game-high 16 points in Bradley's 50-45 win at Northern Illinois last week.
Yohn hit 3-of-8 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 35 minutes of action in BU's 50-45 road win at Northern Illinois. With Bradley trailing 45-43 and under two minutes to play, Yohn contributed to the final seven points of the game as she helped spark the Braves to a come-from-behind victory. She put BU ahead for good with 1:28 to play with a three-pointer and assisted Catie O'Leary's basket with 38.8 seconds left. Yohn sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining. A medical technology major, Yohn owns a 3.21 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Yohn and the Braves return to action tonight, opening a three-game road swing with a 6 p.m. (CST) contest at Butler.
