KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three members of the Bradley Soccer team earned NSCAA All-Midwest Region honors in 2011:  forward Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) and midfielder Christian Meza (Carpentersville, Ill./Dundee-Crown H.S.) both were first-team selections, while goalkeeper Brian Billings (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's) was named to the third team.

The 11-player All-Midwest Region first team was made up entirely of players from Bradley (two), Creighton (four), Memphis (two) and SMU (two).  Only Creighton (four first-team, one second-team), UAB (three second-team, one first-team), SMU (two first-team, two second-team) and Memphis (two first-team, one second-team) matched Bradley's three All-Midwest Region selections.  Together, the five schools accounted for 19 of the 33 overall all-region selections.

Bradley had placed two players on the All-Midwest Region first team in just three other seasons:  1999 (Gavin Glinton, Bryan Namoff), 2000 (Namoff, Hamid Mehreioskouei) and 2004 (Chris Dunsheath, Luke Kreamalmeyer).  Bradley had not placed three players on the All-Midwest Region team since 2007.

Gaul tied for second in the Missouri Valley Conference with 26 points and 11 goals during the 2011 season and he shared the league lead with six game-winning tallies.  Meza was Bradley's second-leading scorer with 13 points on the strength of four goals and a team-best five assists.  Billings posted a 0.94 goals against average in his 22 starts, the fourth-best goals against average in program history and the best by a Brave since Chris Dunsheath posted a 0.81 mark in 2005.

The trio helped the Braves to a 15-6-2 overall record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  The 15 victories equaled the second-best total in program history and Bradley advanced in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in six postseason appearances.
