Box Score TEMPE, Ariz. - Bradley pushed four runs across in the bottom of the first inning, but couldn't hold on as Oregon State rallied for 8-6 win against the Braves Saturday afternoon at the Kajikawa Classic.
BU (0-4 overall) loaded the bases with back-to-back singles and a fielder's choice in the first inning, when freshman Madeline Lynch Crumrine (Sedro-Woolley, Wash./Sedro-Woolley) drove in the first run of the game on a groundout. Senior Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland C.C.) plated two more runs with a single up the middle and later came around to score on a single off the bat of junior Allison Kresl (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) to give Bradley a 4-0 lead.
Oregon State (4-0 overall) rallied for six runs on five hits in the top of the third inning to go in front 6-4. Hannah Bouska was hit by a pitch to open the frame and Lea Cavestany hit a two-run homer to cut Bradley in half at 4-2. A double and wild pitch was followed by an RBI single Erin Guzy and the Beavers tied things at 4-4 with an RBI single by Ally Kutz. Mary Claire Brenner put OSU in front with a two-run double to right center to give Oregon State a 6-4 advantage.
The Beavers added another run in the fifth inning, extending the lead to 7-4 and the team's traded runs in the sixth to put the score at 8-5 heading into the seventh inning. The Braves pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull within two runs (8-6), but came up short as Bradley suffered its first loss to a PAC-10 team with an 8-6 setback to the Beavers.
