NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Bradley women's cross country received all-academic team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after completing the 2010 Fall semester with a 3.52 cumulative grade point average. A record total of 192 Division I women's programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors.
Alabama led all teams with a 3.88 GPA, while Villanova was named the 2010 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year. A team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA in order to be considered for the award.
"I am very proud of what our women's team has accomplished in the classroom," head coach Marc Burns said. "Our staff is very supportive of our student-athletes and their quest to earn a fantastic education here at Bradley. The team has done a great job of balancing the responsibilities of being a student-athlete and that is evident by the success they have had in and out of the classroom."
In addition to its USTFCCCA award, the women's cross country team placed 12 of 14 team members on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2010 Fall semester.
