LAKELAND, Fla. -- Senior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Kate Andrews) shot a one-over par 73 to finish fourth and help the Bradley women's golf team match its lowest round of the season with a final round 301 as the Braves finished fourth in the final standings at the Lady Moc Classic Tuesday at the par-72 Club at Eaglebrooke.
Neufeld posted her second consecutive top-10 finish and her third of the year to help Bradley to its fourth straight top-five team finish. Junior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) and senior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) each carded final rounds of 75 as the Braves tied for the 10th lowest round in program history with a 13-over 301 during Tuesday's play.
The Braves entered the day in fifth place after rounds of 316 and 322 Monday, but carded the third lowest round of the day to move up one spot into fourth place. Bradley finished 13 shots behind third-place Belmont Abbey in a field which included three of the top four ranked NCAA Division II teams and squads which have combined for the last 11 NCAA Division II national championships.
Neufeld finished fourth at 220 in the individual standings with her lowest 54-hole total since shooting 219 at the Payne Stewart Memorial in Sept. 2009. She finished behind Sandra Changkija and Taylor Collins of Nova Southeastern, who shared medalist honors at 218. The top 10 finish was the 10th of Neufeld's career and third of the 2010-11 season.
Amundrud made a push in the final day, carding an eagle from 138 yards out on a par four and finished one stroke away from what would have been her eighth consecutive top 10 finish. She shot a final round 75 to finish 11th in the field at 231 and extend her streak of sub-80 rounds to 24.
Deeken moved into a tie for eighth in program history in rounds in the 70's with a final round 75 and tied for 39th overall at 246. Junior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) rounded out the team scoring for Bradley with a third-round score of 78 to finish four shots ahead of Gorman at 242 in a tie for 30th.
The Braves return to action March 4-6 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
