PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward MacKenzie Westcott (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's basketball team split a pair of road games last week.
Westcott scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the first time since early in her freshman season, averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of road games last week. She scored a then career-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting and also had 10 rebounds and three steals to help Bradley end Missouri State's eight-game home win streak with a 73-68 come-from-behind victory. She followed it up with a career-best 24 points at Wichita State, making 12-of-15 free throw attempts. An actuarial science major, Westcott owns a 3.69 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Westcott and the Braves return to action Thursday when Bradley welcomes Drake to Renaissance Coliseum for a 7:05 p.m. game.
