PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley women's tennis team closes out the season with a three-match Missouri Valley Conference road swing, beginning Saturday with a noon match at Wichita State. The Braves finish out the regular season next week with contests at Evansville and Southern Illinois.
Freshman Sarah Rodefeld (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) highlighted action for the Braves (3-16 overall, 0-4 MVC) last week, rallying from behind to earn a pair of three-set victories at # 2 singles.
After dropping her opening set against Northern Iowa, Rodefeld pulled out a 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory. In the final home match of the year, Rodefeld came from behind against Drake's Gabriela Demos for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 win to even her conference singles record to 2-2. All four of Rodefeld's singles matches in Valley play have gone to a deciding third set.
Senior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) enters the final three matches of the regular season with 49 career singles wins, needing just one victory to join Ashley Morris as the only players in school history with 50 career wins in both singles and doubles. She nearly reached the mark in her final home match, but dropped a 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 decision at #1 singles Sunday against Drake's Manca Krizman.
Wichita State (10-8 overall, 3-0 MVC) improved to 3-0 in league play with road wins against Southern Illinois (7-0) and Evansville (6-1) last week to push its win streak to four matches.
Bradley plays at Evansville (April 22) and at Southern Illinois (April 23) to close out the regular season, before the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship (April 29-May 1) in St. Louis, Mo.
