MACOMB, Ill. -- The Bradley track and field squad opened the 22nd annual Lee Calhoun Memorial with a record performance, breaking the school mark in the 4x800 meter relay Friday to win the event during the first day of competition.
The group of Michelle Hartman (Savanna, Ill./Prince of Peace), Sarah Higgins (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais), Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) and Emily Wolbers (Moline, Ill./Moline) broke the school record in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:15.59, running the event for the first time this season. The Braves were more than 12 seconds faster than second-place Wisconsin-Milwaukee in addition to breaking the school mark which had been set in 1990.
Junior Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) also helped highlight the first day of competition at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Friday, tying for third in the high jump. Cleghorn cleared 1.55 meters in her third of four jumps to finish in a six-way tie for third place. Junior Kourtnie Janson (Cambridge, Ill./Cambridge) tied for ninth with a jump of 1.50 meters.
