DES MOINES, Iowa -- For the second consecutive week, senior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) broke her own school record in the 1,500 meters and finished eighth in the event at the 102nd annual Drake Relays Saturday afternoon.

Goldkamp, who owns the four fastest 1,500 meter times in program history, ran a 4:26.26 at last week's Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore., to break her previous school record by a half second.  She was nearly three seconds faster Saturday, clocking a time of 4:23.29, to finish eighth in the event and was two and a quarter seconds from a top three showing.

"This was a big race for Mary," Bradley track and field head coach Marc Burns said.  "She went against some of the best in the NCAA West Region and showed that she can compete.  Now we need to get her ready to win a race like that as we turn our focus toward the upcoming conference championship and beyond."

Stephanie Morgan of Illinois broke the 1991 Drake Relays record by nearly four seconds with a time of 4:15.90 to win the 1,500 meters.  Goldkamp's time of 4:23.29 is the second fastest 1,500 meter time in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and only a half second behind Wichita State's Tonya Nero.

Goldkamp nearly broke a pair of school records in her two races at the Drake Relays, finishing eight-one-hundredths of a second from Katie Nowak's 800 meter record on Thursday.

The Bradley track and field team returns to action May 13-15 at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
