PEORIA, Ill. -- A three-sport all-conference pick and the scoring leader for a conference champion have been named Bradley's top student-athletes for the 2010-11 athletic year. Senior cross country and track runner Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McLeur North H.S.) and junior soccer player Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) are the 2011 Bradley B-Club Most Outstanding Athletes.
Also the 2010 winner of the B-Club Most Outstanding Female Athlete, Goldkamp collected four All-Missouri Valley Conference awards in three sports during the 2010-11 year and she advanced to the NCAA West Region Outdoor Track and Field Championship finals in the 1,500 meters. After placing sixth individually at the 2010 State Farm MVC Cross Country Championships, Goldkamp set a pair of school records (800 meters and mile) during the indoor track and field season. She added the school marks in the outdoor 800 meters and 1,500 meters in the spring and was a member of the record-breaking 4x800 meter relay team during the outdoor season.
Gaul began the 2010 soccer season as a defender, but moved to the top of the Bradley attack midway through the season. The move coincided with a 7-game, individual point-scoring streak that sparked the Braves toward their second MVC Tournament title. Gaul went on to share the Missouri Valley Conference lead with 12 goals during the regular season. In addition, Gaul assisted Bradley's tying goal in the MVC Tournament semifinal win versus #12 Creighton, helping to send the Braves to their fifth NCAA Tournament.
Gaul earned a spot on the CollegeSoccerNews.com national Team of the Week Oct. 25, then capped the season by collecting National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Midwest Region and All-MVC first-team honors.
