PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley women's golf team returns to the course after a two-week break, taking part in the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan.  The Braves will be playing in the Sunflower Invitational for the first time since the Fall of 2001.

The 54-hole tournament begins Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and will include two rounds of play on the first day.  Tuesday's final round is also slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Bradley will be joined in the field by four other Missouri Valley Conference schools (Creighton, Indiana State, Missouri State and Wichita State) in addition to Big 12 Conference foes Kansas and tournament-host Kansas State.  The 12-team tournament also includes Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State and UMKC.

The Braves opened the season close to home, placing seventh at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill., back on Sept. 12.  Freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) paced a short-handed BU squad, which played without 2010-11 Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) who missed the season-opening event due to injury.

Bradley's career leader with a 76.75 stroke average, Amundrud is expected to return to the lineup for the Sunflower Invitational and needs five rounds in the 70's to break the school record for career rounds in the 70's.  Lin was BU's top finisher at the Redbird Invitational, tying for 16th in her first career event and leads the team with a 77.7 stroke average.

Fellow freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) narrowly missed a spot in the top 20 at the Redbird Invitational, finishing in a tie for 21st (236).

The Braves are scheduled to play three more tournaments in the fall following the Sunflower Invitational, beginning with the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo., Oct. 3 & 4.
