MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) shot in the 70's in her first two rounds of the season and helped the Bradley women's golf team finish Monday's action in ninth place at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational.
Amundrud returned to the course after missing Bradley's season opening event earlier this month due to injury and is BU's leader after 36 holes at the par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Course with a two-round total of 152. She picked up where she left off in 2010-11, firing a three-over par 75 in her first round of the year and carded a 77 in the afternoon to finish the day tied for 13th. Amundrud tied former teammate Breanne Neufeld for second in school history with her 71st career round in the 70's. She needs three more sub-80 rounds to break Bari Erais' school career mark.
Freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) closed out Monday's play three shots behind Amundrud in a tie for 25th place at 155 after scores of 76 and 79. Fellow freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) rebounded from a first-round 84 to shoot a second-round 78 and will begin Tuesday's final round tied for 51st at 162.
Sophomore Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) is 60th overall following rounds of 86 and 80, while freshman Katarina Mangieri (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) turned in rounds of 89 and 87 to close out the first day of play at 67th (176).
Arkansas-Little Rock is atop the team leaderboard after two rounds at 590 and holds a nine-shot advantage on second-place Kansas State (599). Missouri State followed in third at 604 and Kansas is fourth in the standings at 608. Oral Roberts finished the day in fifth (611), edging sixth-place UMKC (612) by one shot.
Wichita State is seventh overall at 625 and Arkansas State is two shots ahead of the Braves in eighth at 633. Bradley follows in ninth place at 635 and BU is three shots better than Indiana State and South Dakota State, who finished Monday's action tied for 10th at 638. Creighton rounds out the field in 12th at 644.
