NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- Former Bradley women's basketball standout Judy Burns will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame when the 11th women's class is honored April 28 in Indianapolis, Ind.
The first female Academic All-American in school history, Burns was selected as Bradley's Most Outstanding Athlete during the 1982-83 school year and ranks fourth in school history with 1,544 career points despite playing just three seasons on The Hilltop.
Burns was a three-time team MVP and still holds school records for points in a game (38) and season (613). She averaged a school record 22.7 points per game as a sophomore in 1982-83 and her career scoring average of 19.3 points per game is the top career scoring mark at BU.
In addition, Burns holds the school record for assists in a game (16) and her 529 career assists ranks second all-time at Bradley. A 1982-83 First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, Burns is fifth in career steals (203) at BU and was inducted into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame in February 1988.
A product of Marion, Ind., she helped the Braves lead the nation in scoring in 1981-82 (87.9 points per game) as a freshman. During her final two prep seasons, Burns led Marion High School to undefeated regular season and state finals appearances and holds school records for career assists (353), single-season assists (179) and steals in a game (13).
