COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Freshman Danielle Lemek (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) matched a season-best with a final-round 74 and tied for 30th in the individual standings, while helping the Bradley women's golf team to a 16th-place finish at sixth annual Johnie Imes Invitational.
Lemek saved her best round for last, firing a two-over par 74 to match her best round of the fall and help the Braves shoot 313 as a team Tuesday at the par-72 Club at Old Hawthorne. She tied for 30th overall at 227, finishing three shots out of the top 20 and seven out of the top 10. SMU's Melanie White ran away with medalist honors, finishing six shots ahead of the field at 208.
Sophomore Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) carded a 78 Tuesday to finish six shots behind Lemek in a tie for 52nd (233), while freshman Allison Walsh (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Mt. Prospect) tied for 56th at 234 after shooting a final-round 79.
The freshmen duo of Lindsey Levin (Chicago, Ill./The Latin School) and Jenna Roadley (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Sturgeon Heights) both finished in a tie for 93rd at 254. Roadley shot an 82 in the third round, while Levin wrapped up the 54-hole tournament with an 87.
SMU claimed the team title with a three-round score of 876 to win the event which featured 11 teams ranked in the Golfweek.com 2011-12 final rankings. Tournament-host Missouri was second at 885 with Kansas State rounding out the top three at 888. Florida International shot the lowest round of the day at 288 to move up into a tie with Indiana for fourth at 893.
Iowa was three shots back in sixth (896) and Mississippi State followed in seventh (906). Arkansas-Little Rock finished eighth in the team standings (907) and Louisville was 9th (909). Illinois State and Eastern Michigan were seven shots behind in a tie for 10th (916) and Oklahoma City claimed 12th (923). UMKC, Colorado State and Missouri State earned a three-way tie for 13th at 930, 10 shots better than the Braves in 16th at 940. BU was six shots ahead of 17th-place Montana (946), while Wichita State (18th - 949) and Redlands Community College (19th - 970) completed the field, respectively.
Bradley returns to action Oct. 8 & 9 at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
